SAVE THE BSL KINO

In 2010 I programmed a weekend of films at Breitenseer Lichtspiele, Vienna. It's the worlds oldest operating cinema, run single-handedly by Miss Anna Nitsch-Fitz since 1969 and as is the case with many independent cinemas, its fate is uncertain.

I needn't relate the dismal state of picture houses today, and I'm sure that most people passionate about film understand the cinema to be one of, if not the most important public space(s) left.

This interview outlines the struggle back in 2006. It existed before then and it's worse today.

Visit the BSL Kino if you're lucky enough to be in Vienna, or wherever you are in the world help keep independence alive by making a contribution (details at Info & Kontakt).
